Empowering Communities

As we grow our regional footprint, Mapletree has set up various CSR programmes to address the specific social needs of the communities where we operate.

China

China CSRIn conjunction with the grand opening of its first overseas VivoCity in October 2011, Mapletree made a five-year pledge of RMB1 million to provide educational assistance to poor students of Xidian University in Xi’an, China.

As we remain on track to build our presence in China, we continue to contribute to the development of our new communities. In the Minhang District of Shanghai where we have a planned mixed-use commercial project, we pledged RMB5 million over 5 years starting from July 2012, to help the poor in Minhang cope with their healthcare and educational needs.

Japan

Japan CSRIn the wake of the 2011 Japan earthquake and tsunami, Mapletree pledged S$1 million to disaster relief, recovery and reconstruction efforts. Our staff also stepped forward to make personal donations and add to the Group’s contribution.

Singapore

We formally launched the Mapletree Shaping & Sharing initiative in Singapore by pledging S$500,000 to Boys’ Town Home and Assumption Pathway School (APS) to coincide with the grand opening of our flagship development, Mapletree Business City in March 2012.

Through this contribution, we helped fund the construction of a new building to house the residents of Boy’s Town Home. In addition, we also funded a programme that provides food, clothing, school fees, pocket money and other necessities to the residents for a year.

For APS, we are committed to support a stay-in programme that help students to better appreciate the benefits of day-to-day routine and focused activities. APS has demonstrated the programme’s ability to help their students with character building and to develop positive values.

Other on-going efforts in Singapore include providing support to other charitable causes through venue sponsorships or rental waivers at our various properties.

Vietnam

Mapletree donated VND1 billion to the Sponsoring Association of Poor Patients, a non-governmental organisation that focuses on providing healthcare and surgical treatment to the poor of Ho Chi Minh City. The donation was announced during the groundbreaking of SC VivoCity in Ho Chi Minh City.
