Mapletree scores record attendance in sixth Youth Futsal Camp
June 20, 2024

SINGAPORE - Mapletree Investments (“Mapletree” or “the Group”) is pleased to share its record turnout for the sixth edition of the Mapletree Youth Futsal Camp 2024. The three-day programme, which kicked off on 11 June at the futsal courts of Mapletree Business City (“MBC”), saw a record 99 participants between the ages of seven and 16 on the pitch, an increase from 69 participants in 2023.

Participants had the opportunity to sharpen their dribbling, passing and shooting skills under the guidance of experienced coaches, while developing a sense of community and sportsmanship.

Said Mr Edmund Cheng, Chairman, Mapletree: “As we continue to make a positive impact in communities where we operate, we are delighted to host another successful edition of Mapletree Youth Futsal Camp at MBC. Held during the June school holidays over three days, this community outreach programme provides students with a beneficial environment to learn the fundamentals of teamwork and form camaraderie while creating lasting memories.”

Jonathan Duck, eight years old (child of a tenant), said, “This is my second year participating in this futsal camp as I love football. I was very excited when my mum told me that the camp was being organised during the June school holidays. Thank you Mapletree, for providing me with a chance to improve my skills. I made many new friends today and enjoyed myself!”

Koen Choo, nine years old (child of a tenant) said, “I was very happy to join the camp this year. It was good exercise for me and I made lots of friends! The coaches were nice and friendly and I learnt how to make better passes to my teammates.”

Aside from the camp edition, Mapletree will organise the fundraiser equivalent – Mapletree Futsal Challenge – in August 2024. The charity event is open to Mapletree Group’s tenants and employees when they donate a minimum amount of S$500 per team to participate. All proceeds go towards supporting Mapletree's youth beneficiaries as part of the Group’s corporate social responsibility efforts. In Mapletree Futsal Challenge 2023, more than S$17,000 – including Mapletree’s dollar-for-dollar matching – was raised for charity.
