Record number of children had a ball at Mapletree Youth Futsal Camp 2023
26 Jun 2023
  • Mapletree scaled up the camp and held it over three days following overwhelming feedback from previous editions

SINGAPORE, 26 JUNE 2023 – A total of 69 participants – up from last year’s 52 participants – took to the pitch as the fifth season of Mapletree Youth Futsal Camp kicked off on 21 June 2023.

Responding to overwhelming feedback from the previous editions, Mapletree Investments (“Mapletree” or “the Group”) scaled up the camp and held it over three consecutive days to cater to the children of Mapletree Group’s tenants and employees.

Held at Mapletree Business City’s (“MBC”) futsal courts, participants came together for coaching on futsal skills and friendly matches. The camp was open to students aged between eight and 15 years old.

Said Mr Edmund Cheng, Chairman, Mapletree, "Into its fifth edition this year, Mapletree Youth Futsal Camp has become a hallmark of the Group's community outreach programme for youths. We are encouraged by the ever-growing number of participants, who sportingly pit their skills head-to-head during the school holidays. This annual initiative also injects vibrancy to MBC. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who have supported us since the first edition of this camp."

“This was a great opportunity for me to head outdoors during the holidays and improve my physical stamina and mental speed in a fun environment. The camp has increased my interest in futsal. I can’t wait to practise what I’ve learnt in subsequent matches!” said Kriston Alexandar, 8 years old (child of a tenant).

Emeline Choo, 11 years old (child of a tenant) said, “I enjoyed playing futsal and making new friends at the camp! The coaches were encouraging and I learnt to finetune my dribbling and goal-keeping skills under their guidance.”

Aside from the camp edition, Mapletree will also be organising the fundraiser equivalent – Mapletree Futsal Challenge in August 2023. The charity event will be opened to Mapletree Group’s tenants and employees. Participating organisations will pledge a minimum of S$500 per team to participate, and Mapletree will match the donations dollar-for-dollar. All proceeds go towards supporting Mapletree's youth beneficiaries as part of its corporate social responsibility efforts.
